We have a first-class team of lawyers who specialise in Intellectual Property (IP) law. We are actively involved in industry and professional bodies. We regularly publish articles and speak at conferences. Our Principal, Kate Colleary, is a registered Trade Mark Agent and a lecturer on the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland’s postgraduate courses in Technology Law and Certificate in Trade Mark law. Our team members are also regularly asked to speak at high profile events.

Our team includes members of the Copyright Association of Ireland, INTA and the Association of Intellectual Property Practitioners. Jane Susan Bourke sits on the Law Society’s technology committee. We represent Ireland on the Licensing Executives Society of Great Britain and Ireland and we are actively involved in the American Bar Association Technology and Intellectual Property groups.

Our team has acted for state bodies, universities, multinational corporations, venture capital companies and individuals in helping them to protect, licence and sell their IP. We also have significant expertise in helping clients enforce their IP against infringers.

We have created an IP audit product. A stock audit or stock inventory is a familiar business concept. When taking an inventory of stock, you identify the quantity of stock you have, and the amount of stock that is needed. An IP audit is no different. We will capture and analyse information on your organisation’s IP and provide you with a comprehensive, commercially focused traffic light report so that you (or your potential investors) can make informed decisions.

Many of our clients are surprised at how many IP assets they own and how valuable they are. Sometimes we uncover potential risks to your business that could result in legal proceedings. Being forewarned is forearmed; we can help you assess, manage and control the risk.

Members of our team were instrumental in working with government during the drafting phase of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000. They were the first lawyers to advise extensively on that Act and providing advice on the operation of various sections of the Act and, in particular, the role of the Copyright Controller in determining tariffs relating to collection societies.

More recently, members of our team have acted for various clients including state bodies, technology companies, healthcare service providers, manufacturers and designers in helping them protect and license their intellectual property as well as acting for licensees in negotiations on the terms of licenses for IP rights.

Members of our team are registered trademark attorneys. We have developed a reputation for providing cost-effective, sound, and commercially focused advice.

We work closely with a select group of patent attorneys to provide patent registration services. Our team then works with our clients to protect, licence and enforce their patents. We have worked on a large number of research agreements relating to patents and on licensing and valuation of patent portfolios.
